Some rumors indicated that with the addition of the elements from the E class that the car will change the name to CLE class, but for now those rumors have not been confirmed. The newest models will continue with the established name and we will get to see them come release date bearing the CLS insignia.

2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS Release Date

For now there are no confirmed indications on when the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS will make its debut. The car is fast in its production stage so they will probably do their best to produce the next-gen CLS models by next year. Expect the release date to be somewhere in mid-2018.

What is the Potential Price for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS?

We do not expect the price of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS to be lesser than the current one, and it might only get to be higher. The predicated price tag is currently around 75,000 USD, while the upper trim levels will go for around 80,000 USD.

Exterior Design Changes

Although the camo seen on the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS model makes it look a bit indistinguishable, it is still pretty easy so see what is going on there. The corporate coupe like design is still present and will be utilized for this model as well. It will remain the main characteristic of the car and will do with the transferred elements from the E-Class models that we are seeing here. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has recently been given a very good update and the models there look pretty good, so it was obvious that they would transfer the elements here.

Interior Updates

The new 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS interior will feature some new additions. The redesigned car will certainly offer restyled seats for the driver and passengers. We are expecting a really welcoming vehicle this time. The seats are supposed to provide adjustable options and also we are going to expect more room from it.

The standard technological features can only be assumed. But if we look at some other offers that Mercedes is providing we can assume that they are going to add a Mercedes’ Audio 20 CD system, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth audio streaming, and the Gracenote music database. The Bang & Olufsen BeoSound sound system was offered optionally last time, which might mean that it might get to be provided as standard for this version.

Powertrain Options

When it comes to the powertrain of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS, it also looks for some ideas at the E-Class model. It will probably use the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 and make 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque for the CLS400 version. This one will combine with 9-speed automatic transmission. A 4.6-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine is predicated powering the CLS550 and will provide 402 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. It will most likely come with a 4Matic all-wheel-drive version.

Possible 0-60 mph Acceleration

The 0-60 mph acceleration speed of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class models is still not confirmed, but it seems that it will be faster than the last time. The pervious model was able to speed up to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, so an acceleration similar to that one or a bit faster is expected to be made. Also the top speed might go beyond the 155 mph which was offered in the last version.

Fuel Economy Stats

It is a bit early to speculate about fuel economy for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, but the least that we can suspect is that this model will probably offer similar fuel economy as before. They might try to expand and make it better so they rival some already present cars in the segment, but we do not see them making too much of an impact for now. The car will have to drastically change for them to significantly improve the fuel economy and we are not sure if that is going to happen. But we can safely say that it will not be much worse than what the competition is able to provide.

Dimensions Changes

There have yet to be any reports on the size of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. But there are some indication that the car might be a bit bigger compared to the last version. It will probably grow so it offers more interior spacing for the passengers inside. They did indicate that they will try to provide more comfort and sometimes more comfort simply means more space and the current 113.2-inch wheelbase might expand and add a few more inches.

What are the Safety Features?

The previous model added new safety equipment so the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class might do so as well. The inclusion of the Collision Prevention Assist Plus seen in the last model will probably be updated and will be offered this time. Some standard pieces of equipment are adaptive cruise control and other semi-autonomous driving features and these are probably going to be expanded with advanced safety offers like Pre-Safe Brake with pedestrian detection; blind-spot monitors; active lane-keep assist; and active parking assistance too.

Rivals

Many other great cars will be rivaling the 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class models. But what is different this time is the prospect of the new CLS-Class. We predict it making a bigger impact as it will incorporate perhaps the best that the E-Class has to offer and it will influence this car largely for the better. So the rivaling vehicles like the Audi A7 and BMW 6 Series model will have something to thing about when this car is released.
