Rumors about a 2018 Mazda RX-7 Confirmed Recently

2018 Mazda RX-7 review

Rumors about the coming 2018 Mazda RX-7 have been confirmed as the story has unraveled at a recent auto show. The makers confirmed that they are working on this car extensively so it is not only a rumor that has gone on for so long it will really happen now. Right after the company’s new RX-Vision concept was unveiled they stated that the RX-7 is going to use it and develop its look. It will actually adapt the company’s famous Kodo design into a much more aggressive style and use it of the new product.

There are many rumors about the design and the release of this car, but it appears that leaked pictures have emerged and according to them the car look mostly like the famed concept model. It will bring the style that we have thought it will get and that way design the new design language that the company has been preparing for their next-generation cars.

The release date is still not clear as it will mainly depend on the way the engine is designed. The thing is that Mazda is working on its newest Wankle engine and its development is still in progress. So we can say that the release date of the 2018 Mazda RX-7 will depend on hwo fast the engine is made. Here is our exclusive review which unveils al the current details about the car.

When is the Release Date of the 2018 Mazda RX-7 Expected?

The model has been announced with the concept vehicle, so the 2018 Mazda RX-7 is expected to hit showrooms somewhere by the end of next year. We might get to be more fortunate and get the vehicle a bit earlier than that, but it all depends on the development team. For now we are hoping for a 2018.

What Price is Estimated for the 2018 Mazda RX-7?

The vehicle is still not evaluated, but the 2018 Mazda RX-7 might make the price go a bit southward compared to previous models hat they have put out. This means that we are looking at a base price of $35,000, for starters. But the price will probably climb up as the vehicle adds more amenities and it will make it that much pricier to bare.

Toned Down Exterior of the 2018 Mazda RX-7

The exterior fo the 2018 Mazda RX-7 is going to be toned down, but only compared to its RX-Vision concept model. The concept had a lower roof, but this one brings it up a bit but it still makes the car look aggressive even with that kind of a design. The widescreen is not as raked as the concept has it and it adds chrome widow surrounds and new and visible B-pillars. Other changes are the added production door handles, multi spoke wheels and a larger fender which also comes included with the changes to the front fender part.

Speaking of the front end, the grille is not only bigger but it is redesigned a bit and the same thing goes for the bumper. The grille adds horizontal slats and the bumper repositions the air intakes a little bit. The headlights received the most amount of changes. The slime ones on the concept were too futuristic looking to use so differently shaped units with LEDs are going to be implemented here. Everything is finished off with a standard Mazda hood and the familiar logo up front.

Interesting New Interior

The inside of the 2018 Mazda RX-7 is very much similar to the RX-Vision concept. The concept model surprisingly had a very clean inside. It made it look almost production ready and it was very surprising to see almost the entire interior of the concept transferred. There are some changes that did get done. Revisions include the center console, the door panels and some in the instrument clusters. The center stack looks standard and adds more buttons and knobs while the infotainment system gets a bigger display screen. The steering wheel will add multifunction to it and behind it there is a much more comprehensive looking cluster.

But the materials will be changed up a bit. The concept added a fair amount of leather and fine material which are probably not going to be used for the base form of the RX-7. These will probably be used with the higher trims and will make the vehicles more high end that way.

Many Expectation about the Powertrain

The drivetrain of the 2018 Mazda RX-7 is still benign developed. The development of the engine will largely determine the future of the car. Since they are trying to make this engine as best and as appropriately as possible, there are a lot of expectations regarding it. So far we know that it is a Wankel type and that it will be named SkyActiv-R. Since the car is aimed at the sports market, we are also probably going to get turbochargers as well. The estimation about the powertrain goes to 275 horsepower, as it would certainly take that much for the car to be competitive. But the question still remains when they finish the development part.

0-60 mph and Top Speed

The development of the engine for the 2018 Mazda RX-7 is going to account for new specs as well. The acceleration and the top speed will be updated and as certain statements say, we are probably going to get a 0-60 mph acceleration of around 5 seconds while the top speed is 150 mph, at least.

New Technology to Improve Fuel Economy

The development of the new rotary engine for the 2018 Mazda RX-7 is also going to help with the fuel economy of the car. The idea is that this model has the same kind of economy as a petrol engine. It will drastically improve upon the fuel economy specs and also help reduce CO2 emissions as well. The development team is working long and hard on this one and the results may be beneficial for many new things not just this vehicle.

Dimensions and Size

The production version of the 2018 Mazda RX-7 will mostly base the dimensions and the size of the car to the concept version. The exterior design of the RX-Vision is already good enough so simply transferring the numbers is going to be more than appropriate to do. Maybe some things get to be tampered with but we are generally getting the car which will have the same size.

Safety and Technology

So far there is little said about the safety of the 2018 Mazda RX-7 model. It is a big part of the vehicle but it is something which is still going to be announced. The vehicle is probably going to use the latest tech seen in the recent Mazda models, but we feel that they still have room to expand here. Probably some advanced features get to be used and these will make the vehicle more competitive compared to other rivals. Safety is one of the bigger concern for a lot of customers so it makes sense for them to wait a bit so they do a better job.

The redesign that the 2018 Mazda RX-7 is preparing and the look which they are going with indicates that there are no many cars which can rival it in the market. The vehicle will probably be facing the Porsche Cayman, which is the obvious choice here, but it might easily surpass so many other cars that the market has. All in all, the rivals have a lot of things on their hands with the debuting RX-7.
