The 2018 Jaguar XE will finally come to us although the rumors about this car have already started all the way back in 2014. This car was announced all that time about and was advertised as the British answer to the BMW 3 Series car. But after moths and months of teases and spy photos we finally have more to go on to confirm the release date of the car.
What is interesting for the new 2018 XE is that it will be the first model to use Jaguar’s all-new aluminum architecture which was firstly introduced as a concept for the C-X17 Compact SUV. Even with the fact that Jaguar has been building an aluminum-intensive cars for years already, this one will differ as it manages to reduce the weight of the car even further.
The newest batch of Jaguar vehicles will probably all be very lightweight and will aim to be much more fuel efficient than the cars that came before. The 2018 Jaguar XE is the introduction to the future which is to come for these type of vehicles.
Since the car has finally had its officially showcasing it is time to find out more about it and review the car in detail.
When is the Release Date of the 2018 Jaguar XE?
The newest 2018 Jaguar XE will finally hit the center stage and will be released for sale this year. The model received its official worldwide acclaim as it was shown to the public in North America at the Los Angeles show. It quickly prompted us to think about the release date of the car and although not officially confirmed the car is slotted for a release this year.
What can we expect for the Price of the Car?
The newest 2018 Jaguar XE car will be release in three models and the price list has already been given for all of them. The 25t is going to be worth $34,900, the 20d is priced $36,400, while the highest one is the 35t which comes to $41,700.
Exterior Redesign for the new 2018 Jaguar XE
The exterior design of the 2018 Jaguar XE is everything and more that we have expected. It is a sports car model which provides all that is needed from a car which is supposed to rival a BMW model. It sports a long hood and a short rear end, with a coupe like roofline. It also has some deeply sculptured lines, but the profile lines are a bit soft. The front end has some narrow headlights and a large grille with the prominent air dams also being a part of the mix.
The back end of the car borrows a lot of its elements form the XF model. You can see that especially in the taillights and the bumper. Here we see how they managed to sacrifice the elegant lines of a XF model with the sportiness of an XE, but it does result in a considerably better drag coefficient with a rating of 0.26 only. On the standard model you will find the 17-inch wheels, but there are also going to be some 18- to 20-inch ones available used in different designs.
The Inside of the 2018 Jaguar XE does not Lack the Luxury
Looking at the interior of the 2018 Jaguar XE you will notice that the car has been well-groomed. This was absolutely necessary if the car was to compete against the rivaling German cars which are already keeping a hold on the market. The cockpit is driver focused and you can see it based on the center console. Even with the sporty elements present, the inside evokes the presence of high-quality mainly thanks to traditional wood veneers, aluminum and piano-black inserts and finishes.
You can chose one of the two completely new infotainment systems offered inside the newest XE models. They are called InControl Touch and InControl Touch Pro. The former one has an eight-inch touchscreen and supports Bluetooth, Bluetooth connectivity and audio streaming. You can also get voice control and navigation as standard with this one. The later one is much more advanced and has a quad-core processor and a high-speed solid state drive. You can control it via a 10.2-inch touchscreen which you can customize based on your liking. Besides a lot of new features it is also made to invoke multi-tasking as well.
Three Powertrain Choices for the US
With the 2018 Jaguar XE released in the US, there has also been an announcement made about the engines that are going to be used for this market. Inside the XE 25t trim you will find the turbocharged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine making 240 horsepower 251 pound-feet of torque. Diesel fans can opt for the XE 20d trim and use a 2.0-liter diesel engine with an output of 180 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque. Finally the XE 35t uses a 3.0-liter, supercharged, V-6 engine which helps it attain 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. You can have all three engines available with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission but the XE35t AWD uses a 8HP70 transmission while the RWD one and the XE20d and the XE 25t have a 8HP45 transmission also offered.
0-60 mph and Top Speed
Thanks to the given engines, the new 2018 Jaguar XE is going to have stellar speeding ability. The 0-60 mph performance stands at 5.1 seconds to reach 60 mph while the top speed is limited to 120 mph.
Unfortunately the fuel economy stats are still not official for the 2018 Jaguar XE but it appears that we are going to have a pretty standard rating for the segment that the car competes in. It is estimated that it will make 22 mpg city, 30 mpg highway and a combined ratio of 23 mpg.
There is going to be a completely new piece of technology added for the 2018 Jaguar XE car. It is called All-Surface Progress Control, which basically works as a low-speed cruise control which works between 2 mph and 19mph to precisely control the braking and drivetrain. Besides this there is also a laser heads-up display, available optionally, and an automatic emergency braking system. A lane assist system, a drive control monitor, adaptive cruise control, closing vehicle sensing, blind spot monitoring and park assist are also provided.
Can we expect the Dimensions to Change?
The dimensions are only going to be slightly tampered with but the 2018 Jaguar XE is going to retain a similar shape as it had with the model before. The overall length of the car is 183.93 Inches, with the wheelbase being 111.61 Inches. The height is 55.74 Inches and the width is 81.69 inches. It allows for some pretty convenient spacing on the inside and also gives us a standard trunk and cargo capacity as the other models in the segment do.
The 2018 Jaguar XE already has its own competition set up. When the original car was made it was made with a purpose to directly rival some German brands in the market. This has not change with the 2018 version of the XE and it will still face the same models in the market. These are of course the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4 models.
