The underpinnings for the A3 were shared with some other Audi models, like the TT, but also other vehicle in the market.

In 2012, he Audi A3 entered in its third-generation of models and it was glorious redesign which was liked by a lot of fans. A year later we were finally introduced to the long awaited sedan version of the A3 model. The vehicle is still going to appear in three trim levels and the sedan’s price is only going to change slightly compared to the outgoing version. All three versions are either available in its FWD form or Quattro, with the latter costing approximately 3 grand more than the former ones. Thus the Premium trim is offered for $31,950, the Premium Plus costs $35,200 and the highest trim is the Prestige which is valued at $40,700. All prices are given as a base MSRP cost.

A Very Amusing Facelift Design

The newest 2018 Audi A3 looks good. It has been reshaped in a way that it still keeps to it identity, but has added just enough of significant improvement to make this car both relevant and new compared to some of the other models on the market. The front end of the car is sharpen up a little bit and it adds changes made for the grille and headlights. The adopted changes actually make the front end of the car seem sportier in appearance and give it a modern look. The air splitter below the grille is there and the lower part of the car, just below the grille, has added a completely new shape making this car almost unrecognizable compared to before.

The side of the car has not changed almost at all. You will see the same double body line for the lower part of the doors which also makes for a 3D appearance of the model. The line does look a little bit more dramatic compared to last time but does not significantly reshape the car. The wheels of the car are 16-inhces as standard while 17-, 18-, and 19-inch ones are available across the trim levels that the A3 offers. Some come standard and some are optional.

The back part of the car still has an overall similar shape, but there are some pieces which differentiate it from the outgoing versions. You can still see the small deck lid which comes with small lip integrated within it. There are also some character lines that wrap around the rear fascia part and there are also some sharper parts which also change the appearance as well. Finally, there are dual-exhaust pipes peeping from below the vehicle. All in all, the general new appearance of the car is of a sportier model which looks remarkably better compared to the one that we had last year.

Interior Innovations and Changes for the 2018 Audi A3

Generally speaking, the inside of the 2018 Audi A3 is very similar to the outgoing one, design wise. But we are very much glad to see that the announced changes are going to upgrade the tech and made the vehicle much more technologically superior compared to the competition. The only changes is that they circular vents have been now released with more details to them, while everything else is mostly recognizable and almost the same.

But the most important piece of news related to the 2018 Audi A3 is the addition of the Audi’s virtual cockpit. It will add digital instrument cluster and will also include a 12.3-inch diagonal screen for the instrument cluster instead of the analogue gauges. There are even two modes that you can chose for the display and customize the interior the way you like it. You will also notice an upgraded MMI system as it comes with a new menu design. You can use a seven-inch display and the standard rotary knob to operate it as before. MMI navigation and MMI touch are still only offered optionally. The system also comes with a 4G LTE connection and it allows for media streaming and calendar transfer that you can do directly from your smartphone.

So as you can see the 2018 Audi A3’s inside has not changed in a way to dazzle you with style. Although it is still as comfortable as it gets, the idea behind this reshaping was to present a more modern interior. This will probably suit more of the contemporary audiences and younger crowds.

What Rivals are Established in the Segment?

The facelifted version of the sedan 2018 Audi A3 only means that the next generation model is still far away. The release of the next-gen car is planed but the facelift is there to update the model to modern standards and make it more competitive. There are a lot of cars which are already truly established here and which have already adopted the modernistic standards of the contemporary market so competing against them is hard if you are not prepared.
